Valentine's Day

Do you actually require a special day to tell your spouse / partner that you love that person or surprise them with gifts??? The whole idea of the mushy cards... gifts .. the hype and hoopla associated with Valentine's day and various other 'days' like the Mother's day, Friendship's day...actually puzzles me...
You go to a shop with the least idea of buying anything from there , but you spot something interesting and it reminds of your friend or partner and then you buy it without any hesitation and give it to them .. the next time when you meet. How sweet is that ??? It actually goes miles to tell that person that they were remembered even on a unplanned shopping....

Jus came across ur blog in Sudhish' blog. I kinda agree to ur view abt the hype surrounding Valentine's day and for tht matter all the 'days'. there is no doubt tht these r excuses for business. u remember aadi thallupadi. 10 years ago did anyone know aadi thallupadi.(in 2005 christmas shopping started in september throughout australia and still the retail corpns groan tht ppl spend less n less money).

still! i think there is some symbolic meaning in celebrating all these things. life is so fast... so much tht we need to force ourselves to see beyond the humdrum of daily existence and the rat race. we forget human relationships in our strife to individual glory. and if we can celebrate life with an impulsive hug or a pre-planned shopping trip, a single rose or a DeBeers diamond, on valentines day or on some random day... it doesn't matter at all.

btw, aishu bag... rotfl. as long as our marina is clean.
